Colophon

Litwinners is a small, independent guide to the Nobel Prize in Literature. This is how it is made.

Type

Headings and text are set in Timeless Serif, a type family from Timeless, a design studio in Chennai. The wordmark is drawn from Fraunces by Undercase Type.

Software

The site is built with EmDash, the open-source CMS built on Astro. Every laureate, book and bookshop is edited in its admin.

Hosting

Everything runs on Cloudflare: Workers serves the pages, D1 holds the content, R2 stores the portraits and Cloudflare Images resizes them for each screen. Cloudflare also handles the domain’s DNS.

Sources

Prize motivations are quoted as published by the Swedish Academy. Biographies are written for Litwinners from the English-language Wikipedia and other sources, with AI assistance in research and drafting. Portraits come from Wikimedia Commons under free licences and are credited on each page. Edition details come from Open Library.

Analytics

Visits are counted with Umami, which uses no cookies and collects no personal data.
